This advanced level course is designed to help you improve your competency in all areas of language learning – speaking, reading, listening, and writing. The class follows the Project-Based Learning model and aims to promote the use of the language while allowing for the flourishing of your creative vision through your project presentations. You are going to collaborate on projects to demonstrate mastery of the language by placing it in context and using technology as a means of expression and communication. In addition to expanding on the grammatical structures learned in previous years, this class stresses communicative competence through language usage in conversations held in pairs or small groups on current events, movie analysis, and other topics of interest.
One of the primary goals of Español IV is to communicate. In order to achieve this communicative goal, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone, make mistakes and try again. Please use every opportunity available to actively exercise your knowledge of Spanish. Accept the challenge to use new vocabulary, grammar and verb tenses in all conversation. Speak Spanish whenever you can, both in class as well as out. Think in Spanish! Write in Spanish! Dream in Spanish! It is far better to try to speak, even with errors, than to remain silent or worse, speak in English! So... please, take risks and SPEAK SPANISH IN CLASS! Strive to continually COMMUNICATE in Spanish!
